Vikramjit R.Rai, the sufi wanderer!!!
I have a deep interest in Sufism, that takes me to different places of great importance.
This thirst for knowledge also inspires me to try my hands on new platforms and
technologies.
How it Started
It was the 10th day of February in 1983. I was born at Manama (Bahrain). My dad
was always crazy for new technologies. He had a COMODORE 64 at that time. Later he
got ZX Spectrum. I still have that Spectrum machine and was using it till year 2000.
Education and Recognition
I came to India in 1988 and started my schooling. From Green Fields Public School
to Guru Harkrishan Public School to Shaheed Bishan Singh Memorial School, I completed
my Senior Secondary.
Later, I moved to DOEACC 'O' and then 'A' Level. I dropped out of DOEACC 'B' Level
and moved out for Graduation. Side by side, I started Freelancing and completed
my B.Sc(IT), then MCA.
During my education, I won more than 25 national and state level prizes,
including prizes from Delhi University, Bharti Vidyapeeth, Jagannath International
Management School, IMT, Mahan and Govt. of Delhi. I also have few brainbench certifications
including Web Design Concepts, Classic ASP, ASP.NET, C, VB 6.0 and Computer Fundamentals.
I scored 2nd position at All India Level for ASP and scored above 90 percentile
in many other tests.
Entering the Corporate World
During my B Level, I was working as a free-lance programmer. I created several applications
for educational institutes. In April 2005,
I joined Sirez Infosystems Pvt. Ltd. as a Research Analyst. In August 2006, I moved
to Gigasoft Systems as a Project Manager and worked there till May 2007, and then I
finally married one of the world's largest digital marketing firm, Solutions Digitas.
Introduction to Sufism
As a kid, I was fond of sufi poets. Later, I started listening to creations of Sufi
mystics like Baba Bulle Shah, Shah Hussain, Waris Shah, Baba Farid and others. Soon, Gurdas Mann, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Abida Praveen, Wadali
Brothers, Satinder Sartaj, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Sabri Brothers became my favourite
sufi singers. Inspired from all this, I started writing my own poetry from school days. Now I
run a page on Facebook called Irshaad and write there.
Didar-e-Dilli : The Wanderer's Dream
I have a deep interest in exploring archeological monuments and scenic beauties. I
spend a lot of quality time for my
Travelog. Recently, I started with Didar-e-Dilli, an expedition to see hidden and unknown
monuments of Delhi and reveal their history. My favourite hill station has been
McLeodganj and the valley of Kangra in Himalyas. My favourite beach is that of Vishakhapatnam
in South India.
Stage Performer
I have been writing plays and giving stage performances since school days. From
college, I moved to writing comedy plays. So far, most of my shows have been a big
success.
